Winec - Research Project

Winec is a research and demonstrative project aiming at the development of advanced systems for the enhancement of environmental performance of wineries in Cyprus.

The project is coded LIFE08ENV/CY/000455 and was initiated on 1^st of February 2010 and will be completed on 31^stof October 2012.

The main objectives of Winec project are:

The assessment and definition of environmental implications deriving from wineries operation
The optimization of their environmental performance
The development of an Environmental Management System
The development, fabrication, installation and commissioning of a pilot treatment plant for liquid wastes from wineries. The treatment plant will be based on the photo-catalysis process in combination with Membrane filtration (MBR).

Euromarket has undertake and succesfully completed the last objective. The pilot unit is now running since August 2011 with exellent effluent characteristics and consistent performance. Pilot unit operation is still supported by S.K. Euromarket Ltd and will be concluded at the end of the project period.
